Chyluria from a Lymphatic–Urinary Fistula

AI Insight

This case report describes a patient with chyluria, a condition where lymphatic fluid (chyle) enters the urinary tract, resulting from an abnormal connection (fistula) between the lymphatic system and urinary system. The article presents clinical findings, diagnostic imaging, and management of this rare condition in which milky-appearing urine occurs due to the presence of chyle containing lipids and lymph.

Lymphatic-urinary fistulas are uncommon but important to recognize as they can cause significant morbidity including nutritional deficiencies from chyle loss and recurrent urinary tract complications. Early diagnosis through appropriate imaging and targeted treatment can prevent long-term complications and improve patient outcomes.
