Angiogenesis

1 article · Biology · Wikipedia

Angiogenesis is the biological process by which the body forms new blood vessels, typically branching out from existing ones to deliver oxygen and nutrients to tissues. This process is essential for normal growth and healing, but cancer cells can hijack it to fuel their own rapid expansion and spread throughout the body. Scientists study angiogenesis to develop treatments that either promote vessel growth in damaged tissues or block it to starve tumors of their blood supply.
