Asthma

4 articles · Medicine, Interdisciplinary · Wikipedia

Asthma is a chronic lung disease in which the airways become inflamed and narrow, making it difficult to breathe, especially during physical activity or when exposed to triggers like allergens or cold air. During an asthma attack, the muscles around the airways tighten, mucus production increases, and swelling occurs, further restricting airflow and causing wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath. While asthma cannot be cured, it can be managed effectively with medications and by avoiding known triggers, allowing most people with asthma to live active, healthy lives.
