Cultural transmission
Cultural transmission is the process by which knowledge, beliefs, skills, and behaviors are passed down from one generation to the next within a society, much like how genes are inherited biologically. In science, this concept is particularly important for understanding how human communities accumulate and share discoveries, technologies, and scientific methods over time, allowing each generation to build upon the achievements of those who came before. This social inheritance is what enables rapid human advancement and explains why our technological progress accelerates as more knowledge becomes available to be transmitted and improved upon.
