Cyclone

1 article · Astronomy & Space · Wikipedia

A cyclone is a large rotating storm system characterized by strong winds that spiral inward toward a low-pressure center, creating a powerful and often destructive weather phenomenon. These storms form over warm ocean waters and are known by different regional names—hurricanes in the Atlantic and eastern Pacific, typhoons in the western Pacific, and cyclones in the Indian Ocean and South Pacific—but they're all the same type of intense tropical weather system. Cyclones can cause tremendous damage through extreme winds, heavy rainfall, and storm surge, making them among the most dangerous natural disasters on Earth.
