De Sitter space is a mathematical model of the universe that describes a cosmos expanding at an accelerating rate with no matter or radiation, only a positive cosmological constant. Named after Dutch astronomer Willem de Sitter, it represents a perfectly symmetric, empty universe governed entirely by dark energy.
