Genetic variant

A genetic variant is a difference in DNA sequence that occurs when one person's genes differ slightly from another person's genes, such as when a single letter in the genetic code is swapped out for a different letter. These variations are completely normal and natural, found in populations everywhere, and most don't affect how our bodies work. Some variants might influence traits like eye color or height, while others can increase the risk of certain diseases, but the vast majority are harmless differences that simply make us genetically unique.
