Insulator (electricity)

1 article · Physics · Wikipedia

An insulator is a material that does not allow electric current to flow through it easily because its electrons are tightly bound to their atoms. Common insulators include rubber, plastic, glass, and wood, which is why we use them to coat wires and protect ourselves from electrical hazards. By blocking the movement of electric charge, insulators keep electricity safely contained where we want it and prevent dangerous shocks or fires.
