Isopoda

1 article · Biology · Wikipedia

Isopoda is an order of crustaceans that includes over 10,000 species, most famously represented by pill bugs and sow bugs that you might find in your garden or basement. These creatures are characterized by their flattened bodies, multiple pairs of legs, and the ability of some species to curl into protective balls when threatened. Unlike their aquatic cousins, many isopods have adapted to live on land, making them some of the few crustaceans you're likely to encounter in everyday life.
