KRAS

KRAS is a gene that acts like a master switch controlling how cells grow and divide in your body. When working normally, it keeps cell growth in check, but mutations in this gene can flip it to the "always on" position, causing cells to multiply uncontrollably and leading to cancer. KRAS mutations are particularly common in pancreatic, lung, and colon cancers, which is why scientists are working hard to develop drugs that can target and shut down this mutated switch.
