Laser communication in space

1 article · Interdisciplinary · Wikipedia

Laser communication in space uses beams of light to send data between satellites, spacecraft, and ground stations instead of traditional radio waves, allowing for much faster and more secure information transfer. This technology works similarly to fiber optic cables on Earth, but the laser beam travels through the vacuum of space to reach its destination with incredible precision. Because laser beams are narrow and concentrated, they enable spacecraft to transmit more data over greater distances while using less power than conventional communication methods.
