Molecular cloud

A molecular cloud is a vast, cold region of space filled with gas and dust where molecules like hydrogen can form and survive. These cosmic clouds are the birthplaces of stars, as gravity gradually pulls the material together until it becomes dense and hot enough for nuclear fusion to ignite. Scientists study molecular clouds because understanding how they collapse and form stars helps us explain how our own solar system came into existence billions of years ago.
