nanoparticles

Nanoparticles are incredibly tiny pieces of material, typically measuring less than 100 nanometers across—so small that about 80,000 of them could fit across the width of a human hair. Because of their minuscule size, these particles have unique properties that differ from larger versions of the same material, such as greater reactivity, different colors, or enhanced strength. Scientists and engineers use nanoparticles in everything from medical treatments and cosmetics to stronger sports equipment and more efficient solar panels.
