Natural product

A natural product is a chemical compound or substance that is produced by a living organism, such as a plant, animal, fungus, or microorganism, rather than being made in a laboratory by humans. These substances have evolved over millions of years to help organisms survive, grow, and defend themselves, which is why they often have powerful effects on living systems. Many of our most important medicines, like aspirin and penicillin, originally came from natural products before scientists figured out how to make them in the lab.
