Orbit

An orbit is the curved path that an object follows as it travels around another object in space, held in place by gravity. The Moon orbits Earth, Earth orbits the Sun, and even galaxies orbit around each other, all because gravity continuously pulls them toward each other while their forward motion keeps them from crashing together. This balance between gravitational pull and motion creates the stable, repeating paths we see throughout the universe.
