Proteinuria

Proteinuria is the presence of excess protein in the urine, which normally shouldn't contain much protein since the kidneys are designed to filter out waste while keeping useful proteins in the bloodstream. When the kidneys become damaged or diseased, their filtering system breaks down and allows proteins to leak into the urine, which can be detected through a simple urine test. This condition is often a warning sign of underlying kidney disease or other health problems like diabetes, so doctors monitor it as an important health indicator.
