Rainforest

A rainforest is a dense, lush forest that receives heavy rainfall year-round, typically at least 80 inches per year, creating an environment where vegetation grows abundantly and thrives in thick layers from the forest floor to the canopy above. These ecosystems are found near the equator in tropical regions and are home to an incredible diversity of plants, animals, and insects, with some scientists estimating that rainforests contain more than half of all species on Earth despite covering only about 6% of the planet's land surface. Rainforests play a crucial role in regulating global climate by absorbing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen, making them vital to the health of our entire planet.
