The EU project B-Cubed has developed automated and interoperable data pipelines to convert biodiversity data into policy-relevant indicators more efficiently. These new informatics tools address the longstanding challenge of translating vast amounts of biodiversity information into reliable indicators that can guide policy decisions, a process that previously required significant time and technical expertise. The tools were validated through multiple case studies, with results documented in the B-Cubed Legacy Booklet published on Zenodo.


This development could significantly accelerate evidence-based biodiversity policy-making by reducing the time and technical barriers to creating actionable indicators from raw data. The automated pipelines may enable more timely responses to biodiversity loss and improve monitoring of conservation efforts across different regions and scales.

Biodiversity loss has been among the central topics in public, policy and scientific debate for several decades. While its accelerating pace and impacts are well recognized, translating the vast amounts of biodiversity data into reliable indicators that can inform policy remains a challenge, requiring considerable time and technical effort.
