Electron spin

Electron spin is a quantum mechanical property that describes an intrinsic angular momentum possessed by electrons, somewhat analogous to how a spinning top rotates, though electrons don't actually spin in the classical sense. This property is fundamental to determining how electrons behave in atoms and can take one of two values, often called "spin up" or "spin down," which affects how electrons interact with magnetic fields and influence chemical bonding.
